Ghosts Of Christmas Albums Past features Christmas/Holiday albums that have been previously released and are returning in 2016 in new packaging or with new track(s) or in a new format. Or any combination. Straight up reissues are on the naughty list.
Sure, every Christmas the fanatically festive folks at NOW UK and US put another Christmas compilation under our Christmas trees - I count eighteen releases through the years! - but it all started with The Christmas Album thirty-one years ago, back in 1985. It was also released as The Christmas Tape and, the following year, as The Christmas Compact Disc.
While The Album and The Tape each have eighteen tracks, The CD only has sixteen songs but, unlike the previous configurations, The CD includes Band Aid's charity single, "Do They Know It's Christmas" with proceeds from the sale of each disc going to the Band Aid Trust. For those of you who missed out the first time around or are hopelessly addicted to the smell of new vinyl, the folks at NOW UK have issued The Christmas Album on vinyl once again. And this time around, they included just a dozen of the most popular Christmas songs in UK Chart history; a few even appeared on the original album back in 1985.
