They were part of the conversation at the beginning of the process but they failed to make it to the final 100 - these are the songs you won't be seeing come Wednesday when I begin counting down My 100 Favorite Songs from 1976. A fun fact about that year: it was the first year I started buying 45s on a regular, weekly basis with my $2 allowance after I got my first "real" stereo for my 10th birthday that April. Some weeks I bought one 45 and other weeks I bought two 45s. There were still other weeks when the Base Exchange (BX) or the three or four stores in the mall would be sold out of the 45s I wanted and I would go home with just a free WLS survey and sometimes even a free Musicland Top 40 survey in my little hands which meant I had more money for the next weekend.
