Profile's CHRISTMAS RAP [1987]

"What?  You didn't know Christmas went hip-hop?"
"Check the clock and let the jingle bells rock!"

Spurred by the success of Run-D.M.C.'s "Christmas In Hollis" (UK pic sleeve above) on the first A Very Special Christmas album, Profile (their record label) hastily assembled a Christmas album featuring other acts on their roster and rush released Christmas Rap just in time for Christmas 1987, hot on the heels of A Very Special Christmas.  HERC bought the album just before Christmas when he was in Loco Records and heard "Let The Jingle Bells Rock" for the very first time.

The Hurby Luv Bug produced track remains HERC's go-to track on the album which he finally picked up on CD this past week.  For Christmas 1988, Profile issued a red vinyl 45 with "Christmas In Hollis" b/w "Let The Jingle Bells Rock" (promo label above). Unfortunately, only the Run-D.M.C. track is available on Spotify so HERC created a special Songza station just for viewers (and he knows they're not viewers) of this post: click to listen to Christmas Rap on Songza.
