Battle of the 2013 Year End Pop Mashups

VS

HERC has confessed to not watching many music videos, either back in the day when MTV actually played music videos or today on YouTube.  In the five years since he first happened upon the year-end mashups of DJ Earworm, a new challenger has arisen in the arena of year-end pop video mashups: Daniel Kim.  HERC has featured the works of both men in prior posts - Earworm here and here while Kim was featured here.  On December 3, 2013, both men posted their latest videos on YouTube and as HERC types this, Daniel Kim's has a 300,000 view lead over DJ Earworm's; quite possibly one posted simply because the other had.  Game on.

First up, the Lyrics and Song Titles version of Pop Danthology 2013 from Daniel Kim, the challenger:

Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" in the first 20 seconds. Point.  68 songs. Point.  Fairly upbeat tempo throughout the video's entirety. Point.

And now the reigning annual video mashup champion, DJ Earworm's United State Of Pop 2013 [Living The Fantasy]:

Great use of Delorean in opening of video. Point. Featuring Lorde throughout video. Point. Featuring that riff from "Don't You Worry Child" prominently. Point.  Relatively down tempo and darker themed. Minus Point.  Limiting songs to only the Top 25 on The Billboard Year End Chart.  Minus Point.

We have a winner!

Here's the version of Pop Danthology 2013 for those who would rather not read their videos:
