We're seven weeks into 2015 and six months into 1982 and HERC has finished working up the last six months of 1982, ranking each song as it debuts on the Hot 100 as well as each week's group of debuts to determine the top ranked songs as well as the strongest weeks single-wise based on six chart factors. (See previous Hot 100 Debuts posts for more details.) HERC is actually consulting two Record Research books to gather all of the data needed for his computations:
June 1982 featured just 29 debuting singles on the Hot 100. HERC will be including nearly half of those singles - all marked by asterisk on the chart below - on his Most Favorite Songs Of 1982 list which will be published shortly after he runs down and reviews the Hot 100 Debuts from December 1982 on April 1st, 2015. Below are the complete four weeks worth of singles from June 1982:

The highest scoring song among the June 1982 debuts is Survivor's summer monster "Eye Of The Tiger", one of three songs to score 200+ points this month. The best scoring week of the month was the fourth week with an average of 145 points among five songs. HERC's pick for underdog of the month is Scorpions and their song "No One Like You", which debuted at #89 in the Hot 100 on the chart dated 6/19/82. It peaked at #65 four weeks later before beginning a three week skid down and off the chart. By the time the song debuted on the Hot 100, it had already spent 11 weeks over on the Top Tracks chart where it debuted at #34 on 4/3/82 and had the following trajectory: 34 (debut), 20, 17, 4 (album featured on cover), 3, 3, 2, 4, 1 (5/29/82 - knocking Asia's "Heat Of The Moment" out the box), 4 (vanquished by Rainbow's "Stone Cold"), 3, 4 (debuts on Hot 100), 4, 13, 25, 28, 14, 59 (final week on Top Tracks before becoming classic rock radio staple).
We asked HERC to work up the Top 5 weeks and Top 20 Songs now that he's halfway through 1982. But first he wanted to establish the averages and medians.
