Summer In Stereo #97

HERC didn't care for The Outfield's "Your Love" the first few times he heard it in the Spring of 1986.  But his roommate at the time loved the album Play Deep and after multiple listenings within the context of the rest of the tracks, HERC came to appreciate the virtues of "Your Love".  Nowadays, the siren-pitch vocals, crunchy guitar and polished smooth chorus remind him of the Summer of 1986 and his roommate blasting the song every chance he could.

That same roommate jumped on Pseudo Echo's "Funky Town" remake in the Summer of 1987.  It was HERC's first Summer as a married man and his last Summer before becoming a father.  He still prefers Lipps Inc.'s original but for some reason, this version - all squeaky synths and synth drums - has him flashing back to Summer 1987 every time he hears it.

  1. Love The Outfield, especially the close vocal harmonies. That album appearing eventually on the CD Project.

For Funkytown, I too prefer the original version by Lip Sync, err... Lipps, Inc.

  2. I remember Pseudo Echo for the songs placed in the cinematic classic, NORTH SHORE. "Nobody listens to Turtle."

    1. The only thing I recall about NORTH SHORE is Nia Peeples.
