Mixtape Monday: WE DID IT ON THE PHONE [1989]

Mrs. HERC used to travel quite a bit for work, early on in their marriage.  Circa November 1989 she was in San Jose for business.  One night at the local mall, she happened upon a Personics machine in a Wherehouse Music store. She picked up a Personics catalog and called HERC when she got back to her hotel room.  They spent a good half hour on the phone planning the tape below - at a loss for a title, they went for the obvious.  She returned to Wherehouse the next day and gave the clerk the playlist/order form and $18. Ten minutes later, she had the custom Personics tape in her purse for her return flight home the next day.

Somehow HERC got confused and instead of asking for "What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted" by Jimmy Ruffin he chose "My Whole World Ended (The Moment You Left Me)" by Jimmy's brother David. Another possible mistaken pick was TKA's "One Way Love" - HERC has no memory at all of that song and listening to it just now on Spotify rang no bells.  Mrs. HERC doesn't remember the exact process but HERC suspects that there might have been catalog numbers and perhaps the store employee entered one incorrectly.
