Yup, it's true! Now That's What I Call 59 - the US edition - is on the way to make every pop music fan's Summer. So what if more than of the songs on the tracklist have already been featured on NOW 94? (Or if five of the tracks were originally released in 2015?) In addition to sixteen hits, NOW 59 also features six Now What's Next bonus tracks that the record company hopes will set the charts afire. And speaking of charts, NOW 59 has two Number Ones from Billboard's Hot 100 as well as four more chart-toppers from their Mainstream Top 40 chart (TOP 40) and an additional one from the Rhythmic chart (RHY) for a total of 6 7. While these songs are obviously not intended for my old fuzzy ears - the Top 40 demographic is 18-34-year-olds so technically I aged out of it in 2001 - one track is a minor favorite around the Hideaway because of the guest artists (John Newman and Nile Rodgers) involved:
Despite the name of the series, one of the main criticisms of the NOW Series is its lack of current hits though ten of these songs are currently in the Top 20 of the Hot 100 as I write this. The average release date of the sixteen hit tracks is January 7, 2016, meaning that the average track is just over six months old which translates to "old" in the fast-paced hurry up what's next culture of pop. Still. most of if not all are currently in Top 40 rotation on a station near you. Next up is NOW 60!
