Rhino's HAVE A NICE NIGHT - Romantic Hits Of the '70s [1998]

Had a conversation with a good friend about the Rhino's Have A Nice Day series last week.  The talk was sparked by his recent discovery of the Have A Nice Christmas disc despite it being featured here on HERC's Hideaway just last year.  Which led to to the question: Are there more Have A Nice Day discs?  Kinda.  The Have A Nice Decade box set features seven discs, each with 20-24 songs, topping out at 164 songs total.  It features some duplication of songs from both the Have A Nice Day and equally enjoyable Didn't It Blow Your Mind series.  But a month before the Decade box was released, Rhino quietly released Have A Nice Night, featuring a dozen "Romantic Hits Of The '70s".
All but two of the songs are indeed from the '70s.  Five of them were previously included on various discs in the Have A Nice Day series with three of those also appearing on Have A Nice Decade but that leaves six songs (including those two from the '80s) that hadn't been featured under the Have A Nice... banner.  Now you know.

  1. I was on board until the last track. Really? The theme from "The Poseidon Adventure"? I guess the night ended poorly indeed.

    1. What was Maureen's other hit?
Something about being ripped apart by two lovers? That sounds like a much worse night.

    3. Mark, no pun intended that time - but it did work well. Herc, "Torn Between Two Lovers" was Mary MacGregor - close but not quite. Maureen's other big hit was "Different Worlds", the theme from the ABC comedy Angie.

    4. Thanks for keeping me on point, Martin. I liked the show Angie. Well, except the title. That is my sister's name.

  2. That's funny, because I, too, had a conversation last week with a friend of MINE about Rhino's "Have A Nice Christmas" disc... And as a matter of fact, I pointed out your 'Herculean' review of it. You don't imagine we might be referring to the same friend now, do you?
