Over in the United Kingdom, Now 87 came out the first week of April. The double-disc set features 46 tracks including ten U.K. Number Ones. The Number One song in the United States (as of the date of this post) - Pharrell's joyful "Happy" - has topped the singles chart in the U.K. on three separate occasions since it was released in December 2013.

On St. Patrick's Day 2014, Now That's What I Call Feel Good was released in the U.K. The three CD set features 63 songs from the 1990s through the 2010s including many Number Ones from both the U.K. and U.S. singles charts, as well as several songs from Now 87. There are single token songs from the Seventies ("It's Raining Men") and the Eighties ("Don't Stop Believin' "), each of which enjoyed later chart success in the U.K. HERC guarantees that one of your favorite songs can be found among the album's playlist.

BONUS - UPCOMING RELEASES
Commemorating the decade of music since legal music downloads became available in the United Kingdom in 2004, Now That's What I Call 21st Century goes on sale April 21st. (See what they're doin' there?) The triple disc set will have 62 songs, most of which came out in the last half-decade. If you've been living under a rock for the past five years and need to catch up on the most popular songs during that time, this may very well be the only CD or, more appropriately, the only download you'll need.

On May 6th, 2014, U.S. retailers will begin selling Now 50 in two configurations: a single disc with a colorful, festive cover and a Deluxe 2CD set with a gold-colored cover. Both versions will contain the Now 50 disc with 21 songs while the Deluxe version offers up a second disc of 14 songs from previous volumes in the NOW series as voted on by fans.

"HERC guarantees that one of your favorite songs can be found among the album's playlist." As a noted contrarian, I took on this challenge with a less-than-open mind. But dammit, if you weren't right. Don't get me wrong, most of that compilation is autotuned garbage, but there are about 4 or 5 solid tracks included (OutKast & Cee Lo in particular).
ReplyDeleteIf I never hear "Don't Stop Believin'" again in my life, I'm more than okay with that.
Rock on...
Vindication! Not just a salad dressing anymore.
DeleteWarms HERC's heart that a noted contrarian such as yourself deigned to look at a Now That's What I Call Music tracklist which itself is the very epitome of anti-contrarianism.
