Rhino's HALLOWEEN: VINYL MACABRE, HAUNTED HITS and HALLOWEEN HITS [1983-1991]

The very first Halloween themed collection on Rhino Records was the one pictured above, from 1983. Sadly, there never was a Vol. II.  Rhino had released Elvira's debut single the year before and the label would continue to partner with the popular persona on music projects over the next decade.

That partnership was raised from the undead with the 1988 release of Elvira Presents Haunted Hits.  Four of the songs from the Vinyl Macabre album were re-animated for the follow-up. The two-headed vinyl album included 23 songs including "Full Moon", an Elvira original, while the one-eyed CD featured 17 of those songs:

The bare-boned Halloween Hits was unearthed in 1991 and featured the bloated corpses of ten songs that had been featured on the earlier Elvira Presents albums.  Because there were no new tracks to be added, HERC did not buy the cursed disc.
