It's no secret that HERC believes that 1982 is the single greatest year in pop music history. And eighty-five posts into his Summer In Stereo marathon of 100 Summer Singles, guess which year has been featured the most? That's right, 1982! Add the song above to the list and it is even more unanimous. But "Don't You Want Me" is no ordinary Summer song - it is unquestionably HERC's Song Of The Summer for 1982, besting all other contenders.
A couple of weeks ago, the soft rock kid, guest contributor and generous friend of The Hideaway, unveiled his year by year Songs of Summer list, one song per year for each year since he was born (including his birth year), with each artist only allowed one song for maximum variety. After much internal debate, here is HERC's list of the Songs of Summer from each year since his birth that most conjure up Summer for him, many of which have yet to be featured on Summer In Stereo posts yet:

ReplyDeleteLove me some Human League. Not only is "Don't You Want Me" one of the great summer songs, it's also the second best single of 1982!
