The Hideaway 20 monthly recap of my listening habits clocks in with twenty-four songs for March 2026. The most-listened to track stands alone, while the other twenty-three songs are tied for the second most listened-to song, so what we have here is The Hideaway 24. We listened to less music this month than in the first two months of the year, though interestingly, we managed to listen to music every single day. We spent time working on the garden we built in the backyard, and even started swimming earlier than usual this year. While my friends back east in Omaha, NE; Somerville, MA; Stamford, CT; and New York City were getting snow and sub-zero temperatures, we had an early Spring for almost a week before proceeding directly to Summer and 100° on March 19, a new record for the earliest triple-digit temperature here in Tucson. (The prior record was set in 2025 when we first hit 100° on April 11.) Then our aging air conditioner system had to be replaced, so we had a few more fans running noisily, so we watched movies with the volume turned up for a couple of days.I don't know why "Just Once" came up more than any other track while we were listening on shuffle. I ain't mad about it. It may have even brought one of the movies we watched this month to mind: The Last American Virgin, which features the song. Coincidentally, another song featured prominently in the film ("Oh No") is at number 24; the two songs bookend the countdown. For the first time in a while, no songs earlier than 1970 made the cut. The newest song on the list is from 2012, and just under half of the songs are from the Eighties, with the average release year coming in at 1982, my sweet spot. Here's the countdown and cover collage for The Hideaway 24, covering March 2026. | March 2026 — Top 24 Most Listened-To Songs | | |

For this month's flashback countdown, we pulled up our most-listened-to songs from March 2022, The Hideaway 28. The first thing that caught my attention was the same song, by different artists, bookending the countdown. "Feeling Good" is certainly a favorite, and while I prefer Simone's version, my better half enjoys all things Bublé. Nina Simone's "Mood Indigo" also made the countdown at number 14, while Bublé's fellow Canadian countrywoman, Sass Jordan, came in at number 2 with her rockin' gospel "Make You A Believer". Like Simone, two other artists wound up with a pair of tracks on the countdown. Imagine Dragons landed at number 26 with "Believer" (2017) and again at number 22 with "Radioactive" (2012). The other double-dipping act is Squeeze with "Pulling Mussels (From The Shell)" (1980) at number 19 and "Tempted" (1981) at number 3. The average release year for these twenty-eight songs ended up at 1984. Not too shabby.
