According to lastfmstats.com, Thursday, February 26, 2026, marked the 7000th day since I signed up for my last.fm account and began my scrobbling journey with Kasabian's "Club Foot". Coincidentally, that same track finished just out of the money for the month's official Hideaway 27.
I listened to a whole lot of my favorite music this past month, logging 3934 unique scrobbles from 1656 artists and 3044 albums. Ended up with one track from the Sixties, five from the Seventies, fourteen from the Eighties, four from the Nineties, and three from the 2000s. The most recently released track to make the cut is "Give Me A Kiss" by Canadian pop duo Crash Adams, from 2024.Much of my listening was done out back on the patio because, contrary to Punxsutawney Phil's prognostication, very pleasant Spring-like weather came early to the Sonoran Desert this year. Noticed one song made an encore showing from last month's Hideaway 38: Bruno Mars' "Marry You" came in at number 32 in January and number 15 in February. Here's that song and the rest of the Hideaway 27 for February 2026.
For this month's throwback chart, I've got the Hideaway 20 from February 2018. Half of the songs are from the Sixties and Seventies, while the other half are from the 2000s. The twenty songs are a little rock, a little pop, a little new wave, a little country, and a little rap. The Kai Danzberg track at number 9, at less than a minute long, hardly represents the dozens of tracks I've downloaded from the artist's Bandcamp page. The Paul Weller track at number 14 is a New Orleans-tinged funk-rocker that opens his 2017 album, A Kind Revolution. Rita Coolidge's beautiful "Fool That I Am", at number 3, was originally included on the Coast To Coast soundtrack album, alongside J.D Souther's "You're Only Lonely" and "Swayin' To The Music (Slow Dancin')" from Johnny Rivers. Another favorite soundtrack cut, Don Henley's "Love Rules" from Fast Times at Ridgemont High, is at number 12. If you've never heard the Stereophonics track, do yourself a favor and go listen to it. "Maybe Tomorrow" is a laid-back slow jam with a soaring wah-wah drenched solo that never fails to brighten my day.
