Mixtape Monday: The NICE GUYS! soundtrack [2016]

One of my favorite films of the last 30 years is Kiss Kiss Bang Bang from 2005. I won't bore you with the details other than to say see it if you haven't yet but based on that film alone, I am super-psyched for The Nice Guys, due out May 20th. What's the connection? Both films were written and directed by Shane Black. In between the two, he co-wrote and directed the 10th highest grossing film of all time worldwide but it was absolutely dreadful so we're hoping for a return to form for Black, who is also known for creating Lethal Weapon, The Last Boy Scout and rewriting the script for The Last Action Hero.

The song heard in the trailer above at the half minute mark is "A Taste Of Silver" from Until The Ribbon Breaks. The second song heard nearly a minute into the trailer is "Feel Right" by Mark Ronson feat. Mystikal. Apparently, there was another song on that album besides "Uptown Funk" - who knew?

The first song heard in this trailer is a 1971 cover by Rod Stewart and the Faces of the Temptations classic "(I Know) I'm Losing You" while the second song heard in the trailer is The Hollies "Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress)" from 1972. The film takes place in 1977.
The Nice Guys soundtrack is scheduled to be released the same day as the film hits theaters and has fifteen songs, none of which appear in the two trailers above. The vibe from both the music and the posters is Boogie Nights Lite don't you think?

As has been the recent trend, The Nice Guys soundtrack is also being pressed on vinyl in a super deluxe double album edition with all sorts of bonuses. The "naked" cover appears below.
