Too soon? Nah. While it is true that HERC went hogwild over Daft Punk's "Get Lucky", it was clearly THE song of Summer 2013 rather than "Blurred Lines". Last year, after nearly a month of being content with the four minute single edit, Random Access Memories dropped and we were given an even longer, full-length six minutes and change version. Then a month later those wacky robots remixed their own creation, resulting in a glorious ten and a half minutes of "up all night to get lucky".
I was sure you'd pair "Get Lucky" with "Blurred Lines" so I woulda lost money on that bet (the latter didn't even rate a Spotify link?!?).
ReplyDeleteI'm ok with Daft Punk's other stuff, but when you collaborate with Nile Rodgers, Pharrell Williams, and Nathan East, it takes things to a whole nuther level. While chart figures beg to differ, I agree that "Get Lucky" was the song of the summer last year, narrowly topping "Blurred Lines." Both songs are still in regular rotation 'round here.
After working with Daft Punk, guitarist Rodgers began working on a highly anticipated Chic album, bassist East released his own "tribute" titled "Daft Funk". And we all know what Pharrell has been doing.
