Summer In Stereo #57

Fifteen years ago this week, Santana's Supernatural began its chart ascent from #19 on Billboard's Top 200. It took eighteen weeks to climb those eighteen spots before it hit the top, where it stayed for a dozen non-consecutive weeks. Coinciding with the album's upward journey was the chart ascension of the lead single "Smooth" sung by Rob Thomas, who co-wrote the song with Itaal Shur. "Smooth" became Santana's first chart-topping single in his more than 30-year career, and it stayed at the top of the charts for twelve consecutive weeks during its more than a year stint on the Hot 100. For HERC, the song raises the temperature and humidity any time it's played.
