The initial lot of ten Backbeats discs was released in 2009 with the pledge that more volumes would eventually follow. Demon/Harmless made good on that promise in September 2010 with ten more Backbeats compilations, the first of which is featured today: Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah - 70s New York Disco. The disc contains just eleven tracks but they fill out 78 minutes of music in all of their disco glory, whether in their original full-length album versions or the deliriously danceable disco remixes. Once again, Ian Dewhirst earns his keep by curating this collection of songs from 1974-1979 - mostly from the Salsoul label - even though Chic's "Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)" just lends its title to the mix. HERC highly recommends this one and now he's gonna get up out the way and just let the music play.
