Mixtape Monday: "I"

Today, on a very special episode of Mixtape Monday, we feature the first ever fully-themed tape HERC made for his future bride.  It is also the first in the alphabetical series where he actually wrote something on the j-card:

Love in 23 versions

Why this was tape "I" and not tape "L"?  We may never know.  HERC wants to say it was made in late December 1984 or possibly early January 1985.  Was it an audio Valentine for his intended?  He says that is unlikely, that the songs on this tape were chosen because they were songs he liked that happened to have the word "love" in their title.

These two songs on the tape captured HERC's ears upon his recent listen - one opens Side A while the other closes Side B:

• "Sea Of Love" - HERC remembers it fondly as one of the few records that crossed generational lines between his grandparents, his parents and 18 year old HERC.  For the Christmas of 1984, he bought the cassette for his Texas Grandma and the vinyl, five song extended play for his Mom;
  
• "Love Makes You Blind" - HERC first heard and owned this throaty, rough-edged ballad on the soundtrack album for the film No Small Affair, where it was subtitled Love Theme from No Small Affair.  HERC's favorite song from that album remains the last song, "Eiffel Tower".
