Summer Chart Flashback: Summer Singles 1975

A couple of weeks back, HERC covered the Summer Singles of 1974.  Then a couple of days ago, he counted down the Top 10 Albums of the Summer of 1974. Today, he turns the page and features the Summer Singles of 1975.  HERC was a recent transplant to the Midwest in the Summer of 1975 and the first Top 40 station he found on the radio dial was WLS. During one late Summer, back to school trip to the local mall - nearly 40 miles away - HERC stumbled upon WLS's weekly music survey, stacked neatly on the checkout counter of the record store in the mall.  He began collecting them for the next six years, until his family moved from the Midwest to the Southwest.  The collection of surveys, kept in a shoebox, did not make the move.  But other people were collecting them, too, and they kept theirs and scanned them and posted them online.  HERC thanks all the fellow WLS survey fans at The Airheads Radio Survey Archive (ARSA) as well as those over at Oldiesloon / Chicagoland / WLS. Special thanks also to collector Ron Smith, who has compiled several books devoted to Chicago's Top 40 Charts, two of which now reside in HERC's library.
