Kim Wilde, yes THAT Kim Wilde, released her first Christmas album this year, Wilde Winter Songbook. It's a family affair as her husband, daughter, father and brother all make appearances as do her fellow Eighties pop music survivors Nik Kershaw and Rick Astley. The vibe on this one is mostly mellow piano by the fire with a few upbeat numbers. (HERC's Mom for one, would really like this one. Hi Mom!) The song selection is six originals, four classics and two covers of Christmas tunes from 2008: "Winter Song" and "White Winter Hymnal". It's a great listen as Wilde's voice has only mellowed with age and the song selection is fresh if not exactly memorable after HERC's first three listens. Recommended, especially for those in both East and West California.
