This playlist starter was suggested by a viewer and a reader who wishes to remain anonymous. (They all do for fear that HERC will expose them to the world - HERC's Hideaway has been viewed in 62 countries!!!) HERC knows their identity but he, she or IT does not want their identity known. Go figure. They described these songs as having "hooks for days". HERC agrees and both of us can't wait to hear what songs you guys come up with to round out the playlist.
Given his wonky mental filing system, HERC's claim that this is the first song he remembers hearing on the radio should be taken with a grain of ginkgo bilboa. Furthermore, HERC swears that the second song he heard is "Playground In My Mind" by Clint Holmes. And the third? "Love's Theme" by Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra. It's a vivid memory up until then - riding in HERC Sr.'s 1968 Chevelle Super Sport in Fort Worth, Texas - then POOF!
Don't tell anyone, but HERC has spent many a night trying in vain to sing along to this hauntingly beautiful song yet ends up merely humming it. Say what you will about Richard Marx but this song is just gorgeous. Check out the unplugged version below:
What's the only song recorded by two different groups on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack? Hint: Both groups were sets of brothers. It was "More Than A Woman", written and recorded by the brothers Gibb aka Bee Gees and then covered by (the) Tavares (brothers). The song is so strong even those GLEE "kids" couldn't kill it - why oh why did they not let Kurt sing it? Tavares also does a killer version of Hall & Oates "She's Gone":
They are a little bit on the softer side but all are definitely soulful. And full of hooks. What songs would compliment them?
